Where Light Meets Quantum Matter

Damascelli Quantum Materials Lab
Andrea Damascelli is a Professor at UBC’s Department of Physics & Astronomy and a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in the Electronic Structure of Quantum Materials. He co-directs the Max Planck-UBC-UTokyo Centre and previously served as Scientific Director of Blusson QMI (2015–2025).
Andrea and his team develops advanced ARPES (Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy) and x-ray scattering tools to map and control how electrons behave in solids. Working out of the UBC-Moore Centre, the team focuses on pushing the boundaries of photoelectron spectroscopy to discover new quantum phenomena.
